House of Yoga Terms & Conditions
Last Updated - 23 October 2026
These Terms & Conditions apply to classes, memberships, class packs, workshops, trainings and other studio services provided by House of Yoga (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2018/413280/07, and House of Yoga Academy (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2025/503238/07, as applicable, at 43 Heather Street, Claremont, Cape Town, 7708, South Africa.
Please read these terms before making a booking or purchase, particularly the sections on cancellations, health and participation, and responsibility and liability.
1. General
By making a booking or purchase, you agree to these terms and any additional terms provided for the particular service before you book.
Our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training has additional separate terms, available on our Yoga Teacher Training Terms & Conditions page. The relevant booking documents will identify the company providing the training.
Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under applicable South African consumer protection legislation.
2. Bookings & Payments
Classes and services must be paid for in advance, or booked using a valid membership, class pack or approved partner benefit.
Bookings are subject to availability. A membership or class pack does not guarantee a place in a particular class.
Please ensure that your booking is confirmed in Octiv or directly by House of Yoga before attending.
Prices and any applicable purchase conditions will be displayed before payment.
Price changes apply to future purchases. Changes to an ongoing membership will be communicated in advance and handled in accordance with the membership agreement and applicable law.
3. Class Cancellations & No-Shows
Please cancel your booking at least 6 hours before the scheduled class start time so that your place can be made available to someone else.
A cancellation within 6 hours of the start time is a late cancellation.
Missing a booked class without cancelling is a no-show.
Your first late cancellation or no-show will result in a warning. Subsequent occurrences will incur a R50 fee per occurrence, subject to any exceptions required by law.
This policy applies to both membership and class pack bookings.
Please cancel through Octiv. If a technical issue prevents you from cancelling, email hello@houseofyoga.co.za as soon as possible.
Where applicable law prohibits a cancellation charge, including qualifying circumstances involving death or hospitalisation, no charge will be imposed. Please contact us if exceptional circumstances affect your booking.
4. Memberships & Class Packs
Memberships and class packs are personal to the account holder and may not be shared or transferred.
Before purchase, we will provide the relevant conditions, including:
The number of classes or access included.
The validity period and when it begins.
Any recurring payments or automatic renewal.
The process and notice required to pause or cancel a membership.
Any restrictions on use.
Cancelling an individual class does not cancel an ongoing membership or its recurring payments.
Validity periods and expiry conditions apply only to the extent permitted by law. Nothing in these terms removes any statutory right to cancel an agreement or receive a refund.
5. Arrival & Late Entry
Please arrive a few minutes before class to allow time to settle in. First-time visitors should allow additional time to complete registration and speak to the teacher if needed.
Late entry may be declined where it would disrupt the class or prevent safe participation.
If you are unable to join because you arrive after class has started, the missed-class policy may apply.
6. Health & Participation
Yoga and other movement practices involve physical exertion and carry a risk of injury. The level of effort and suitability will vary between classes and individuals.
By participating, you acknowledge that you should:
Choose a class appropriate to your experience and current health.
Work within your own limits and rest or stop whenever needed.
Inform your teacher privately, before class, of any relevant injury, medical condition, pregnancy, recent surgery or other concern that may affect safe participation.
Seek advice from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional if you are unsure whether a practice is suitable for you.
Provide accurate registration and emergency contact information, and update relevant information when circumstances change.
Our teachers provide yoga and movement instruction. They do not diagnose medical conditions or replace medical advice or treatment.
You may decline any posture, exercise or hands-on adjustment. Teachers will seek your consent before providing hands-on adjustments, and you may withdraw that consent at any time.
If you feel unwell or experience pain, dizziness or unusual discomfort, stop participating and inform the teacher.
7. Responsibility & Liability
Please read this section carefully. It concerns the risks of participation and responsibility for loss or injury.
You acknowledge the inherent risks associated with physical activity and agree to take reasonable care of yourself, follow safety instructions and respect your own limits.
House of Yoga and its teachers will exercise reasonable care and skill when providing services.
We are not responsible for injury or loss arising solely from the ordinary, inherent risks of participation where we have exercised reasonable care and skill.
Please take reasonable care of your belongings and avoid bringing unnecessary valuables. We do not provide secure storage or accept belongings into our custody unless expressly agreed.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for gross negligence, intentional misconduct, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
8. Workshops, Courses & Special Events
Prices, inclusions and any specific cancellation conditions will be provided before booking.
If you need to cancel, please notify us as soon as possible. Where permitted by law, we may retain a reasonable cancellation charge, taking account of the notice given, the nature of the booking and our reasonable ability to fill your place. Any remaining refundable amount will be returned.
You may ask to transfer your place to another suitable participant. Transfers require our prior written agreement and may depend on the requirements of the event or course.
Separate terms apply to the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training and will be made available before enrolment.
9. Changes or Cancellations by House of Yoga
We may occasionally need to change a teacher, class time or class format. We will give as much notice as reasonably possible.
If we cancel a class, you will not incur a cancellation fee. Any class credit deducted will be restored, or a separately paid class fee will be refunded unless you choose a credit instead.
If we cancel a workshop, course or special event, you may choose a refund of the affected booking fee or an offered alternative.
If a material change to an ongoing service affects your membership, please contact us so that we can agree an appropriate remedy in accordance with your agreement and applicable law.
10. Studio Conduct
Please help us maintain a welcoming, respectful space by:
Treating teachers, staff and other students with consideration.
Following reasonable studio and safety instructions.
Keeping phones silent and avoiding disruption during class.
Respecting other students’ privacy and personal space.
Obtaining permission before photographing or recording anyone.
We may decline participation or ask someone to leave where their behaviour is unsafe, abusive, discriminatory, harassing or materially disruptive.
Any suspension or termination of access, and the treatment of unused payments, will be handled fairly and in accordance with applicable law.
11. Children & Younger Participants
Participants under 18 require a parent or legal guardian’s consent and must attend classes suitable for their age and experience.
The parent or guardian must provide relevant health information and emergency contact details. Any supervision, collection or other arrangements for children’s classes will be communicated separately.
12. Personal Information & Communications
We process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Please read that policy for information about registration details, relevant health information, emergency contacts, bookings and the service providers we use.
We may send necessary messages about your bookings, payments, membership or changes to studio services.
Marketing preferences are managed separately. You may unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link provided, or contact us to update your preferences.
We will seek separate permission before using identifiable photographs or videos of you for promotional purposes.
13. Updates to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time and will publish the revised version with an updated date.
Changes will apply to future bookings and purchases. Material changes affecting an existing membership will be communicated in advance and will not override agreed rights or applicable law.
