Overview
Our in-person, internationally accredited vinyasa-focused Hatha Teacher Training program offers a grounded, contemporary approach to yoga rooted in ancient philosophy and wisdom. Over the course of the programme you will explore:
- Techniques, Training, and Practice: Learn to teach asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing and vital energy practices), and meditation effectively, safely, and inclusively, appreciating the diversity and uniqueness of individual bodies.
- Anatomy, Physiology, and Biomechanics: Understand the structure of the human body and its main organ systems, relating them to yoga practice to promote safe movement and longevity in the body.
- Yoga Humanities: Delve into yoga’s storied history, its evolution, and its foundational texts, exploring philosophical and ethical considerations for self-reflection and professional application.
- Professional Essentials: Develop teaching skills and methodology, including intelligent sequencing, cueing, and class management. Gain professional insights into the business of yoga and receive mentorship to refine your practice and teaching.

Venue: House of Yoga, Claremont, Cape Town.
Structure: This hybrid program aims to offer the benefits of an intensive, immersive experience with some flexibility for various commitments. You have the option to complete the training all at once, or in two modules:
Full-Time Intensive (20 days):
- Module 1: Friday, 11 July 2025 – Sunday, 20 July 202
- Module 2: Monday, 21 July 2025 – Wednesday, 30 July 2025
Part-Time Intensive (2 x 10-day modules):
- Module 1: Friday, 11 July 2025 – Sunday, 20 July 2025
- Module 2: Friday, 5 September 2025 – Sunday, 14 September 2025
Accreditation
House of Yoga is an accredited Registered Yoga School (RYS) with Yoga Alliance US. As a graduate, you will receive an internationally recognised and accredited 200-hour certification.

Standard Fee: ZAR 20,000
Early Bird Pricing: ZAR 18,000 (10% discount) if paid in full by 31 March 2025.
Payment Plans: Available to split the fees over three or four months. All fees must be paid in full by 30 June 2025.

Eligibility & Prerequisites
Applicants should have at least one year of regular and consistent yoga practice, or six months if you are a teacher of another physical discipline (e.g. Pilates, martial arts, personal training).
Your Faculty
The training is led by Leigh Wood, owner of House of Yoga, with guest teacher and yoga academic Firdose Moonda, alongside House of Yoga’s beloved teachers lecturing on specialist subjects.

You will learn to deliver vinyasa-focused Hatha, emphasising safe alignment principles and adaptability to individual student needs.
Are there any extra costs?
You may need to purchase or borrow course texts, but we will let you know in advance. If you are not local to the area, you will need to arrange and pay for your own accommodation.
Do I need to be able to perform advanced poses?
No. Our focus is on personal expression and safe alignment within asanas, respecting individual bodies and experiences.
