The Medicine of Music & Movement

The Medicine of Music & Movement

It is difficult to deny the power of sound and music to move and even heal us. Music speaks directly to the soul, and when it does, our body becomes its instrument through which emotions, evoked by sound vibrations, are expressed and released.

Join Nadiah and Leigh for a special sound and yoga-inspired movement journey, and be moved through a choreographed flow accompanied by the joy-inspiring song of the violin and the healing vibrations of sound bowls at a cellular level. We’ll celebrate the creative and liberating energy of sound – to create movement and to free us from sense and intelligence – our lower structures of consciousness – so that we can lean into the innate wisdom of the body and higher states of awareness.

All levels welcome.

Each attendee will receive a Wellness Warehouse gift bag valued at R250 with incredible goodies from Wellness Warehouse and others!

All proceeds from this event go to Masi Violin Outreach – an outreach programme dedicated to empowering and enriching lives through music education. Masi offers free violin classes to children aged 7 -18 of the Masiphumelele community, where they can explore their creativity, learn the craft of playing the violin and be empowered through music education.

About your hosts

Nadiah

A classically trained violinist and jazz-trained vocalist with interests in dancing, broadway and yoga (she’s one of House of Yoga’s original regulars!), Nadiah’s musical taste is saturated from Bach to Led Zeppelin. She has a BMus Degree from The South African College of Music, creates her own compositions, teaches voice and violin at School of Rock Claremont and runs the programme at Masi Violin Outreach.

Leigh

Leigh is the owner of House of Yoga and one of its teachers. With a background in dance, she has always found expression and joy through movement. For her, every time we step onto our mats, we begin a journey – a journey home to ourselves. Yoga is about celebrating the adventure of life, being human, our uniqueness, but also our connection to all things.
